I worked with MLB reporter Pedro Gomez on the script for this piece about Mitchell, a former College World Series star and two-sport NCAA champion who was chosen in the 2009 draft just ahead of eventual MLB superstar Mike Trout, yet never made it to the major leagues.
I partnered with reporter Tim Kurkjian and the digital design team to construct this oral history that employs animation to illustrate what happened on the play that decided the fifth and final game of the 2015 World Series, won by the Kansas City Royals.

Because every MLB player picks out a specific song to be played as his name is announced for each at-bat, my editorial team and I put together an interactive online tournament that -- with the help of social media -- determined which walk-up song was the best.

What we missed about Tommy John surgery
This story required ample research to produce a number of data-viz graphics to complement the excellent reporting from injury analyst Stephania Bell and show how the popular elbow procedure is not a panacea for pitchers. Bell's piece won an award from the Newswomen's Club of New York.
